Group Music Lessons at Dr. J’s Music Studio and Academy give students the chance to learn, collaborate, and grow together in a supportive, ensemble-focused environment. Led by Dr. John Seybert, an experienced conductor, ensemble director, clinician, and educator with more than 25 years of teaching at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels – these sessions help students strengthen musicianship while building teamwork, confidence, and community.
Group instruction is especially beneficial for developing listening skills, tuning, balance, rhythmic accuracy, and ensemble awareness. Students learn how to blend, communicate musically, support one another, and perform with purpose. These skills are essential for school ensembles, honor bands, chamber groups, and beyond.
Each group experience is structured, collaborative, and designed to help learners grow as both musicians and ensemble members.
Whether you’re preparing for school ensembles, festivals, small groups, or simply want to strengthen collaborative musicianship, group lessons provide a supportive and inspiring environment for learning together.
Dr. John Seybert has over 25 years of experience directing bands, leading sectionals, coaching chamber groups, and preparing students for honor ensembles and collegiate programs. His background includes university teaching, curriculum leadership, adjudication, and ensemble conducting bringing a deep understanding of how groups learn, grow, and perform at their best.
He guides students with patience, clarity, and the kind of practical ensemble insight that only comes from years of directing and coaching ensembles at multiple levels.
