The Summer Saxophone Intensive is a 10-week online program designed for high-school and intermediate saxophone
players who want to develop a stronger sound, cleaner technique, and greater musical confidence. Each week blends
guided instruction, individual feedback, and focused practice materials to help students make meaningful progress
throughout the summer.
Students will explore tone development, technique, articulation, intonation, musicality, jazz style, audition preparation, and
performance skills in a supportive small-group environment.
Learning Goals
By the end of the 10 weeks, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate improved tone quality and consistent embouchure
- Use efficient air, articulation, and finger technique
- Play major/minor scales, arpeggios, and technical patterns with confidence
- Apply musical expression—dynamics, phrasing, vibrato—appropriately to their music
- Understand jazz style basics and improvise using simple patterns
- Prepare audition materials and sight-read more effectively
- Perform with greater confidence in both solo and ensemble settings
